Our DDB History

We have been proud owners of Dogue de Bordeauxs for over 11 years. Our first Bordeaux was actually a gift from a close friend and all we knew at the time about the breed was from the classic 1989 Tom Hanks movie “Turner and Hooch”. However, after meeting our very first Bordeaux in person, we were instantly hooked and have grown to adore everything about them. In fact, we have been fortunate to own five Dogue de Bordeauxs over the years!

Chunk

Our very first DDB, appropriately named Chunk (after a character from the movie THE GOONIES), will always hold a very special place in our hearts. Unfortunately, Chunk passed away suddenly in October 2014 after a months-long battle with cancer. She was (and still is) deeply loved by us, our children, and our close family and friends.

Bluto

Our second DDB, Bluto (named after a character from the movie ANIMAL HOUSE), will always have a special place in our hearts as well. Bluto, unfortunately, suffered from many physical ailments and passed away at a young age. While her passing was devastating, it made us realize the importance of sound breeding and high quality health lines.

Hoosier and Smalls

Our current DDBs, Hoosier (named after the basketball movie HOOSIERS) and Smalls (named after a character from the movie THE SANDLOT), came from outstanding breeders with a history of strong health and champion blood lines. Although we bought them from separate breeders, Hoosier and Smalls have the same grandfather, Cisco Kid. Cisco Kid won multiple awards and competed regularly at Westminster and other prestigious shows.

Hoosier has her 1st litter of DDB pups on August 19, 2015. She will turn 5 years old in early September. Smalls, our other DDB, will be 3 years old this November.

Below are pictures of both Hoosier and Smalls (can you tell them apart?!). More pics and information on Hoosier can be found on the Female page.
